Some Giant Reptiles ARE
Real Monsters

Real monsters can inspire a great deal more terror than any of the fanciful sea monster stories going around, especially if you are confronted with one of these creatures. I have been in this unfortunate situation a couple of times.

The sense of impending doom one gets when faced with a massive crocodile far outstrips any tingling sensation you might get from looking at a fuzzy picture of a black thing in a lake.

Sweetheart

The giant saltwater crocodile Sweetheart was a massive 5.5 meter beast that lived in the Finnis River in the Northern Territory of Australia. It became famous because it would often attack small boats entering its territory.

Komodo Dragon

The Komodo Dragon is the largest living goanna, or monitor. They can reach over three meters in length and have been connected to a number of fatalities on the Central Indonesian islands they live on. Read more Komodo Dragon facts here.

Anacondas

These enormous snakes are one of the two longest reptiles alive today and large specimens are more than capable of swallowing children and perhaps even adults whole.
