In the Northern Territory, Australia, saltwater crocodiles are a protected species. As a result of this they are in great numbers and are in absolutely no danger of extinction.

I would doubt that the same could be said for other crocs such as the Nile Crocodile and the American Crocodile, where people are competing heavily for the same habitat.

Do NOT go swimming in fresh or salt water in the northern half of the NT. The crocs there are very dangerous.
